Soft Concrete explores the emotional effects of alienation and its use as a creative method to question the current state of being and move towards accepting a new form of self. The theme is explored through Hegel’s self-alienation philosophy, Brecht’s Verfremdungseffekt, and the impact of distortions on our cognitive routines. This is done by using distorted pattern construction and experimental latex textiles embedded with concrete, to show the inner feelings outwards.
