Through observation, contextual-research, and exploration of knitted structures, color, form, and scale, the work investigates how non-places can inform design decisions and how knit can engage with environments that lack relational, historical and identity-forming qualities. The project approaches these characteristics as opportunities for intervention, rather than limitations.
The result is a collection of three knitted textile objects for three different non-places. The project highlights how textile design can contribute to creating identity, curiosity and engagements within otherwise overlooked transitory places.
