Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director General of the Swedish Institute, said:
“The Swedish Institute is a government agency that funds collaboration between Swedish and Ukrainian organisations and individuals. Through projects on the ground and through training, we are contributing to Ukraine's reconstruction and ties to the EU – while strengthening resilience in both Ukraine and Sweden.”
ELCRU – Empowering Librarians as Changemakers for Rebuilding Ukraine
This project aims to strengthen Ukraine's libraries as relevant and democratic knowledge hubs. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the National Library of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Library Association, a local non-profit organisation, and the National Library of Sweden. Through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and training – both on-site and digitally – the project will support the role of libraries in assisting citizens and policy makers. A digital platform will be one of the project outputs.
The project runs from November 2025 until November 2027.
Veronica Trépagny, Project Coordinator, Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT and Project Manager of ELCRU, said:
“Together with our partners, we want to help libraries, through their librarians, play an even stronger role as democratic hubs in Ukraine and in the country's reconstruction.”
U-TEX – Aligning Ukraine's Textile Ecosystem with EU Standards
U-TEX aims for capacity building that enables Ukraine's textile ecosystem, leading to its comprehensive and rapid alignment with EU standards. The project starts in December 2025 and runs until November 2027.
Vijay Kumar, Associate Professor of Textile Management and Project Manager of U-TEX, said:
“The project aims to provide a critical foundation for the Ukrainian textile sector, facilitating its rapid alignment with the EU's Green Deal and Circular Economy standards.”
