Studies laid the foundation for the courage to challenge

With her brand Loudehrot, Louise Linderoth has developed designs that demonstrate how fashion can be a tool for inclusion.
“Being named Alumni of the Year feels fantastic – but above all, important. The award shows that work with norm criticism and inclusion in fashion is not only recognized but also valued as part of the industry’s future. I am deeply grateful for the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities I gained during my studies. They laid the foundation for the work I do today and for the courage to challenge prevailing norms,” says Louise Linderoth.

Her career is currently shaped by diverse perspectives, where the breadth of the fashion industry is both challenging and inspiring.
“Right now, the most exciting part is the mix of everything I get to work with. I continue to explore how design can contribute to a more inclusive fashion industry, while also working in commercial contexts where the focus is not always on these issues. The combination of these worlds helps me grow as a designer and makes the future feel inspiring and full of possibilities.”

Fascinated by the transformative power of libraries

Daniel Forsman has long driven the development of libraries with courage and innovation – but the award came as a surprise.
“It is surprising, but very rewarding to receive the Alumni of the Year award. My time at the University of Borås laid the foundation for my professional career, and over the years I have tried to stay connected in various ways. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the university and contribute to its development,” says Daniel Forsman.

He is now looking ahead in many ways, not least as he assumes the role of National Archivist in 2026.
“After my years in the library world, I am still fascinated by the transformative power of libraries. We have just revised a strategic plan for the libraries in Stockholm, which will serve as a foundation for their relevance to citizens in the coming years. And of course, I look forward to stepping into the role of National Archivist.”

Jury’s motivations

Alumni of the Year 2025 – Louise Linderoth

Through her work as a fashion designer, Louise Linderoth has challenged prevailing norms and created space for bodies long excluded from the fashion world. With her brand Loudehrot, she has developed designs based on the needs of wheelchair users, while showing how design can be a powerful tool for inclusion.

Her “seated jeans” have gained wide recognition through collaborations with established actors, and her innovative work has been featured in international fashion magazines such as Vogue and Elle. She has received the Grand Prix in Inclusive Design in Paris and exhibited her work in contexts where functional and inclusive design rarely takes center stage.

Louise Linderoth clearly demonstrates that fashion can be more than aesthetics – it can be a force for change. She is an inspiration and a role model, showing how knowledge from the Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås can help shape a more open and inclusive fashion industry.

Alumni of the Year 2025 – Daniel Forsman

Daniel Forsman has long demonstrated leadership that combines courage, innovation, and deep respect for the democratic mission of libraries. By broadening the role of libraries and introducing new professional groups, such as social workers, he has helped reach audiences beyond the traditional and strengthened the relevance of libraries in a changing society.

His work has made him a strong voice for the importance of libraries in society, particularly from a democratic perspective. With strategic precision and practical action, he shows how an alumnus from the University of Borås can influence and renew an entire sector. In his new role as National Archivist, he takes on a responsibility of great societal importance and breaks new ground in preserving and making accessible our collective memory.

Daniel Forsman demonstrates how idea-driven leadership can shape the public spaces of the future while safeguarding society’s most fundamental democratic functions.
