Vice-Chancellor to leave the University of Borås after the summer

“It’s never easy to leave an organisation that functions well. I feel that this is the right time, even if it is a bit earlier than planned. I want to spend time with my family, focus on my hobbies, and do things a Vice-Chancellor simply doesn’t have time for,” said Mats Tinnsten.

Chair of the Governing Board of the University of Borås, Anna Nilsson-Ehle, commented on the announcement, saying “I understand Mats's decision, even though it is unfortunate news. Mats is a well-regarded leader who has made his mark on the university. I feel confident about the university’s leadership going forward, and I am convinced that the institution will continue to develop in a positive direction. We will look at what this means for the ongoing work to recruit a new Vice-Chancellor.”

The Swedish government is responsible for appointing a Vice-Chancellor and an Acting Vice-Chancellor. Anna Nilsson‑Ehle continued, saying “At the board meeting on 14 April, I intend to propose that the board recommend to the government that Pro-Vice-Chancellor Anna Cregård be appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor.”

Mats Tinnsten concluded, “I know that Anna Cregård, together with others in leadership roles, will continue to drive development forward and make use of the fantastic potential and strength among all the university’s employees.”
