Nominations for honorary doctors now open

The appointment of honorary doctorates is a way of showing appreciation for those who have made a significant contribution to one of the university's research areas – either in collaboration with the university or in a broader sense in society.
Honorary doctorates will next be conferred at the university's Academic Ceremony to be held on 8 May 2026.

Here's how to submit a nomination

Only employees at the university are allowed to submit nominations and thereafter it is the Research and Education Board and the Artistic Research and Education Board that makes decisions regarding appointments after proposals prepared by the review panel.
Proposals for those to be appointed honorary doctors must be submitted no later than 30 November to the chair of the relevant committee, Eva Gustafsson and Hanna Landin, in a sealed envelope via internal mail or submitted to Reception. Mark the envelope with “Nomination – Honorary Doctor”. Please note that the nominees are not to be informed of their nominations.
