Active Textile
Contemporary art has fundamentally changed the idea of connecting art and life, focusing on erasing boundaries between the aesthetic and daily experience. The expression form of artistic identity is not only a condition of existence, but as one of the ways of social, political, economic activity, which has not only artistic but also social value. Today, textiles as a problematic cultural field encompass theories, technologies, and practices. Textile has become strong, sustainable, flexible, conceptual, and constantly evolving. Textile - traditionally considered a gentle, feminine, domestic idyll symbol, becomes a tool of social changes and activism.
In my lecture, I will share my professional experience and the role of values in creativity. Values that could contribute to enabling the next generations of artists to create, work, and live in the diverse, sustainable, multicultural, tolerant, open and harmonious world. It might sound utopian, but together we could build inroads towards it. Faith, hope, love for family, profession, and the world, help each of us create unique and individual meanings in life.

Textile, climate, and skills
How does a 136-year-old family business create a better climate for people and plants around the world? How do we value textiles today, in the past, and in the future? As the value of textiles has decreased, volumes have increased and the industry now faces a major climate challenge and needs to shift to a circular business model. How will we manage this task? Only through technological developments and changes in behaviour. It requires investment in skills development, research, and development. Business, academia, and society need to work together to meet the climate challenge.
