The Student Union makes a difference to student life

When Linn looked back on the year, she noted that it is important to show appreciation for the students who engage in the Student Union.
"We have placed a strong focus on creating a strong student movement, and this is in line with increasing our membership numbers. It is about strengthening our sections, offering a wide range of student social activities, and enabling more students to influence their educational programmes."
Despite successful results, there have also been some challenges. Above all, regarding finances, following the government’s decision to reduce funding for student unions. Therefore, during the year there has been a focus on creating better financial conditions. Linn meant that they had made some progress, but that they were not there yet. The focus for the next financial year must be on continuing to create sound financial conditions for the Student Union moving forward.
What made you choose to get involved in the Student Union?

"I have always been active in student life, mainly through our campus associations, which were very rewarding and fun. However, I felt that I wanted something more connected to educational and labour market issues, and as Chair of the Student Union I have had that opportunity. By engaging in the Student Union, you develop both personally and professionally, and it will be a significant part of my CV."
What is the most enjoyable aspect of being Chair of the Student Union?
"It is all the people I meet and that I get to work with so many who are engaged. I get to see ideas become reality, and I make a tangible difference to students’ everyday lives, both in the classroom and outside it. As Chair, I am also involved in many different contexts that I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to participate in, both at the university and within the municipality and business community. In the Student Union, we work to make Borås an attractive student city, and many stakeholders are required to make that possible."
Is there anything you are particularly looking forward to before your term ends, for example upcoming events or projects?
"I am particularly looking forward to organising our spring banquet. We have held it for several years now, and it is often a very appreciated event, with a fine dinner and dancing throughout the night. I am also, of course, looking forward to EXIT and the EXIT party. It is the Student Union’s celebration, which we organise together with various actors in the business community, and a wonderful conclusion for everyone graduating."
