Data breach in the learning platform Canvas

The supplier of Canvas has reported being targeted by a cyber security incident carried out by a criminal threat actor.
 
Based on the information currently available, the actor may have gained access to data such as names, email addresses, and messages exchanged between users. An investigation is underway in collaboration with external security experts.
 
“We have now received confirmation from our supplier that we are among the affected institutions. We take this incident very seriously and are monitoring the situation in close dialogue with the supplier. Students and staff have been informed, and we will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available,” said Lena Tyrén, Deputy Director of the Professional Services at the University of Borås.
