Guest researcher from New Zealand an important piece in internationalisation efforts

During his visit, Andreas Drechsler is meeting his Swedish colleagues to learn more about the research and education conducted here, as well as to discuss ongoing and potential collaborations.
“It means a great deal to be able to come here and exchange experiences in research and education, to see how things work here, and to find out whether I can bring something back to my home university,” he said.
He will also deliver a lecture at a research seminar, where he will present a research idea at an early stage.
“I am looking forward to receiving constructive feedback from my research colleagues in Sweden.”
Professor Stefan Cronholm, who together with Senior Lecturer Hannes Göbel, invited Andreas, explained the benefits for the University of Borås of hosting international visiting researchers:
“Collaborating with guest researchers is part of our broader internationalisation efforts at the Department of Information Technology. In particular, it allows us to gain valuable input for our research projects, as well as for our teaching. A large part of Andreas’s research aligns well with our research interests in design science and data-driven innovation. Overall, it is important that we continue to expand our international relationships at the university.”
Andreas Drechsler holds a degree in Business Information Systems from Universität Duisburg-Essen (UDE) in Germany and also completed his PhD at the same university. Before joining Victoria University of Wellington, he worked as a researcher at UDE’s Institute for Computer Science and Information Systems, as well as a visiting researcher at the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida in the USA. His previous industry experience includes several years in software development and project management of software projects.
Andreas’s research focuses on understanding current practices and improving future approaches to information security management and IT project management in organisations, with a particular emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises. To achieve these goals, he conducts both theory-building research and design science research. Through reflection on his applied design science projects, he aims to further develop the conceptual and methodological foundations of design science research.
