The university's new Quality Coordinator – Anja Lund

 “I have a Bachelor's degree in textile engineering and remained at the Swedish School of Textiles as a doctoral student and postdoctoral researcher before moving on to Chalmers and eventually to RISE. I have now worked in research within textiles and materials science for 20 years, and I am looking forward to new challenges.”

We let Anja talk about herself and what she will be working on in her role as Quality Coordinator:

How do you view the assignment as Quality Coordinator? Why is this an important role?

 “I will support and guide the academic staff in the systematic quality assurance work for the university's educational programmes at all levels. An ongoing task will be to coordinate internal evaluations of all our educational programmes and ensure that the results are followed up and used for further development.” 

 “The wider perspective is also important to me: the university is undoubtedly one of the country's most important institutions. It provides us with knowledgeable and competent professionals who are trained to think critically and independently. This is fundamental to an open and democratic society. I want to contribute to ensuring that this important activity is not only maintained but also continually improved.”

 Why have you chosen to take on the assignment as Quality Coordinator?

 “I have always enjoyed the academic environment. It is a privilege to be surrounded by curious and inquisitive people from different parts of the world. It feels especially exciting to take on a new role and see the familiar organisation from a different perspective. I believe that my extensive experience of working analytically and systematically in different types of research collaborations can also be of great benefit here.” 

What issues would you like to drive within this area? 

“I want to help ensure that the quality assurance work at the university is perceived as support for the organisation, and that quality issues are relevant and engaging for everyone in the organisation. Simplicity, clarity, and collaboration are guiding principles that I value.

 What is next on your agenda in this role? 

“I have a great deal to learn, so at the moment much of my time is devoted to understanding the organisation and its processes, and building new relationships. I am doing a lot of listening right now and look forward to getting to know the organisation across all four Faculties. As soon as possible, I will become involved in the ongoing work of evaluating and developing the university's educational programmes.”
