Anna Nilsson-Ehle“Anna Cregård was unanimously considered by the recruitment group to be the most suitable candidate for the position of Vice-Chancellor. She meets all the basic requirements and, in addition, have qualifications, experience, and expertise that we consider important for leading the University of Borås in light of our vision and the challenges we face,” says Anna Nilsson-Ehle, Chair of the Governing Board of the University of Borås and Chair of the recruitment group. She continues:

“The recruitment of the Vice-Chancellor follows an established process, and in the next stage, the hearing, the selected teachers, other employees, and students will have the opportunity to hear Anna’s thoughts and ask her questions. In this context, it is important to emphasise that the hearing is not part of the selection process, but an opportunity for different groups within the university to listen to the candidate, ask questions, and subsequently provide me with input ahead of the forthcoming decision.”

Thirteen people submitted expressions of interest, from whom six were selected for interviews, three men and three women.

“It was encouraging to see such strong interest in the position from qualified candidates, and this provided us with a good basis for our work. The interviews with the selected candidates were conducted by the recruitment group with support from our recruitment consultants,” says Anna Nilsson-Ehle.

The reason expressions of interest, rather than formal applications, were invited is the nature of the position.

“When someone seeks the position of head of a government agency, they are likely to hold a position in which they do not wish to make their interest in another position public.”

Next step

Following the hearing, Chair of the Governing Board Anna Nilsson-Ehle will recommend the person for appointment as the new Vice-Chancellor to the Governing Board. A decision will be made at the Board meeting in December. The proposal will then be submitted to the Government, which will make the formal decision during the winter/spring.

The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to take up the position at the beginning of the summer or as agreed.
