Fantastic study environment convinced Amber to stay in Borås

Why did you choose the Bachelor's Programme in Fashion Design?

“I always knew that I wanted to do something creative and I was open to different paths. After taking a preparatory art school course, I realised that fashion design was right for me.”

What do you think is the most important thing in the programme?

“The most important thing for me is the freedom we get to develop our creativity, along with access to the best labs and supervisors who can help us bring our ideas to life.”

Why did you choose to study in Borås and at the Swedish School of Textiles?

“I started studying fashion design in Amsterdam, but when I came to the Swedish School of Textiles as an exchange student, my view of what a university and its teachers can be for the students changed. All the amazing labs and teachers who challenge you made me decide to switch to the Bachelor's programme here.”

What tips do you have for those who are considering applying to the Bachelor's Programme in Fashion Design?

“If you are faced with a choice between different universities, I highly recommend the Swedish School of Textiles. I have not met other students who are as satisfied with their fashion design education as the students here. The resources here are really unique compared to other universities.”

What is Borås like for students?

“It's a smaller town than I'm used to, but it creates a cosy and close community among the students. Everyone at the school helps each other and puts a lot of energy and focus on their work.”

What do you dream of doing in five years?

“I hope to be able to continue to create with my hands and keep the craft alive. I want to work in practical terms with projects that inspire me and be in environments that give me as much energy as I put in. Preferably for a brand that cares about the planet, our future and that creates beautiful and meaningful collections.”
