Translation

Support from the Communications Office

Contact the Communications Office for support with translation matters. In some cases, the Communications Office can translate your text from Swedish to English or coordinate the translation process with procured providers.

The person ordering the translation is responsible for ensuring that translations relating to research and education are, if necessary, reviewed by an expert/subject representative. Please note that the Swedish version of the text must be completed before translation.

The person ordering the translation is responsible for archiving translated texts with the Registrar’s Office when relevant.

Please note that there may be a cost associated with translation work and that the availability of services may change depending on the resources of the Communications Office.

The Communications Office's responsibility in translation matters also includes communicating the guidelines for translation and updating our Swedish-English glossary.

Which texts should be translated?

University departments are responsible for selecting texts for translation based on the needs of the relevant target groups (e.g. employees, students, international networks).

The following areas are prioritised for translation, given that the main purpose of translation work is to promote an inclusive and international environment and communication at the University of Borås:

  • security/safety, fairness and legal certainty, and transparency in the university's work and study environments
  • information for doctoral students
  • Human Resources
  • communication about research
  • educational programmes and courses
  • general information about the university and its Faculties/offices

Guidelines for English Translations

Review the university's Guidelines for English translations, Reg. no. 757-16.
