Data breach in Canvas

According to the information the university has now, names, email addresses, messages between users, course names and course registrations may be involved.

Instructure, the supplier of Canvas, states that they have taken security-enhancing measures and Canvas is working as usual.

Remember to save a copy of material before uploading it to Canvas.

It is good to be extra vigilant for suspicious emails and unexpected requests at this time.

We received indications that something had happened at the supplier on 2 May. On 5 May, the supplier confirmed that we were affected together with the other universities. 

• Students and staff have been informed of the incident.
• An investigation is underway with the supplier's security experts and the university is following developments closely.
• A report to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection has been made.
• As a preventive measure, the university has reviewed and, where possible, implemented more security measures in technical systems and integrations linked to Canvas.
