Swedish Language Courses

These courses are only available to foreign students enrolled in another course or programme at the University of Borås.

Application procedure

The application procedure should be made by
- exchange students: first application through TransIT (external link). Late application by email to internationalstudent@hb.se 
- other students: all applications through universityadmissions.se (external link)  (also late applications). See Courses 2019.

Application for next semester, Autumn 2019, will be possible from May.

Re-registration

Students who were registered previous semesters cannot re-apply for the same course. They may, however, ask the course administrator at the course start for re-registration if there are any places available for repeat study. 

Tuition fees

No tuition fees are requested for any student.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Beginning Course (7,5 ECTS)


Spring 2019

The course starts with Course Introduction on Monday 28 January at 5.00 pm in room M402, and ends in early April.
All registered students should choose every week when to attend at the first and second lecture (studying total 5 hours/week).

The schedule is preliminary and these occasions are offered every week:

  • Lecture 1/week is given: Mondays at 4.30-7 pm or Tuesdays at 9.30-12 am
  • Lecture 2/week is given: Thursdays at 5-7.30 pm or Fridays at 9.30-12 am 
  • Schedule code in KronoX: 10SF11-20191-31791 (freemovers) and 10SF11-20191-IN75V (exchange students) 
All admitted students will receive an admission letter with information by email (provided "home email address"). Please confirm your participation by register to the course in LADOK as soon as possible. Use your student account to log in (SXXXXXX). After registration, the PingPong course activity will open for you. Examinations will preliminary be held in the middle of May.

There will be no group Beginners starting late.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Continuation Course (7,5 ECTS)


Spring 2019

The course is for foreign students with previous knowledge of the Swedish language as introduced in the course for beginners. Instruction is mainly conducted through lectures, individual exercises, and seminars.

The student must have been registered to the course Swedish as a Foreign Language – Beginning Course, 7.5 ECTS credits before admission to the Continuation Course. The course will be open for late application. All admitted students will receive an admission letter with information by email (provided "home email address"). There is limited enrolment.

The course starts with Course Introduction on Monday 8 April at 5.00 pm in room H402, and ends in early June.

Your transcript of record can be printed out from the Ladok (or requested at Student Reception) after you have finished a course to use at your home university.
