Swedish Language Courses

These courses are only available to foreign students enrolled in another course or programme at the University of Borås.

Application procedure


The application procedure should be made by
- exchange students: first application through TransIT (external link). Late application by email to internationalstudent@hb.se 
- other students: all applications through universityadmissions.se (external link)  (also late applications). See Programmes and courses 2018.

Application for next semester, Spring 2019, will be possible from November.

Re-registration

Students who were registered previous semesters cannot re-apply for the same course. They may, however, ask the course administrator at the course start for re-registration if there are any places available for repeat study. 

Tuition fees

No tuition fees are requested for any student.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Beginning Course (7,5 ECTS)


Autumn 2018

The course starts with Course Introduction on Friday 7 September at 3.00 pm in room D207, and ends in the middle of November.
All registered students should choose every week when to attend at the first and second lecture (studying total 5 hours/week).

The schedule is preliminary and these occasions are offered every week:

  • Lecture 1/week is given: Mondays at 4.30-7 pm or Tuesdays at 9.30-12 am or   Wednesdays at 4.30-7 pm
  • Lecture 2/week is given: Thursdays at 5-7.30 pm or Fridays at 9.30-12 am or at 1.30-4 pm

After admission, all students must register to confirm with their Students account.

There will be a later group Beginners starting 5 November in room H402 for all who applies late or admitted who arrives to the university later than 7 September. Late application will be possible 1-18 October. Please read above for more information on late application. All admitted students will receive an admission letter with information by email (provided "home email address") ~one week before the course starts. Registration will be open 31 Oct - 16 Nov. Examinations will preliminary be held in the middle of December.

Swedish as a Foreign Language - Continuation Course (7,5 ECTS)


Autumn 2018

The course is for foreign students with previous knowledge of the Swedish language as introduced in the course for beginners. Instruction is mainly conducted through lectures, individual exercises, and seminars.

The course starts 6 November at 5 pm in  room H402.
The lectures will preliminary be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.30-7 pm.

The student must have been registered to the course Swedish as a Foreign Language – Beginning Course, 7.5 ECTS credits before admission to the Continuation Course. The course will be open for late application 1-18 October. All admitted students will receive an admission letter with information by email (provided "home email address") ~one week before the course starts (31 Oct). There is limited enrolment.

After admission, all students must register to confirm at LADOK. Registration will be open 31 Oct - 16 Nov.

Examinations will preliminary be held in the middle of December.

Transcript of record

Your transcript of record can be printed out from the Ladok (or requested at Student Reception) after you have finished a course to use at your home university.
