Academic Ceremony 2026

The ceremony was celebrated as usual with a procession, fanfares and warm applause. During the evening, nine doctors were conferred, three professors were installed, and honorary doctor Robert Quinn, founder of Scholars at Risk, was conferred. Several of the speeches during the ceremony focused on academic freedom and the responsibility of higher education institutions in a turbulent time.

This year’s promotor was Delia Dumitrescu, Professor of Textile Design. The university’s pedagogical prize was awarded to Oscar Lisnell, Lecturer at the Department of Engineering. Speakers included Vice-Chancellor Mats Tinnsten, honorary doctor Robert Quinn, Hanna Landin, Chair of the Board for Artistic Research and Education, and Linn Bengtsson, Chair of the Student Union in Borås.

The ceremony was followed by an enjoyable reception and banquet for ceremony participants and specially invited guests.
