Central starting points for the university's quality system for education are the Higher Education Act, the Higher Education Ordinance and the European guidelines for quality assurance of education, European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).

The University of Borås is organised according to the following structure:
Governing Board - The Governing Board at the University of Borås has oversight of all university affairs and is responsible for ensuring that its tasks are fulfilled. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the university's management under the board.
Boards - The university's boards (the Research and Education Board and the Artistic Research and Education Board) are organisationally placed directly under the board. The boards are responsible for working towards high quality in education.
Vice-Chancellor - Under the vice-chancellor are staff functions and a line organization consisting of four faculties and the professional services. The faculties and professional services support are in turn organised into a number of underlying departments and units. Each faculty is responsible for the quality work performed within its educational activities. The professional services supports the quality work for education. The vice-chancellor has the overall quality responsibility at the university.
Quality coordination - At the professional services, there are four central coordinators who link together the quality work for education between the four faculties, the committees and the professional services.
