Magdalena has found her passion in Information Science

What is your academic background?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Languages for Business and Administration in English and French.

What interested you about this programme?
I wanted to explore the different opportunities available outside of my home country, where I felt that my options were somewhat limited. Considering my strong interest in sustainable development, which I believe is a core aspect of Swedish education, along with my passion for digital technologies, I found that Sweden was the perfect place to develop and explore these fields.

How does it work to study remotely?
It is challenging, as you must structure your own time and can’t meet your professors and colleagues face to face. But since I studied in the same format during the COVID-19 pandemic, I do believe it is achievable with the right amount of motivation.

What can you tell us about the study pace and the forms of the courses and interactions within them?
As far as my experience goes, we have had a few different types of teaching. We have had recorded lectures as well as live lectures and workshops. What I love most about the study form so far are the seminars. They provide a way to communicate what you have learned so far and exchange opinions and views with other students. Additionally, they present an opportunity for amicable interactions with the professors, which is unique experience that I haven’t encountered previously. Another thing that really facilitates studying (at least for me) is that the courses are taught separately, and they don’t overlap. In that way, you can focus your attention on one course only and gain a better understanding of all the different topics.

Your best tips  to students who are thinking of pursuing studies in this Master’s programme?
Don’t hesitate, just apply! If information science and digitalisation lie within your interests, this is the programme that can help you gain a better understanding of these topics. With the right amount of dedication and motivation, and great lecturers that will help you along the way, I certainly believe it is the perfect opportunity to explore the information science field.

Why do you enjoy your studies in the programme?
I really believe I have found other minds that think alike in this programme. The focus is on what’s new and forthcoming. It certainly is a challenge and requires a lot of time and dedication, but what better way to feel alive than learning and developing every day? This programme gives me exactly that. I plan to pursue further studies in Sweden and particularly at the University of Boras after I graduate from this programme.
