In order to meet this reality the Department of IT at the University of Borås initiated a project with a clear focus on lifelong learning and upskilling of the professionals from Swedish companies.

The purpose of the project is to establish a nationally leading education in data-driven service development with a long-term goal of ensuring the supply of advanced competence that strengthens the innovation and competitiveness of Swedish business. This is achieved by developing a method for course development and the offering of training at advanced level in co-production with participating companies.

The curricula developed within the project are meant to be integrated into the university's regular course later. The focus of subject in courses, which are offered to professionals is based on initial research conducted by the project to identify areas of competency lag or upcoming needs in the market. Through interviews with 60 professionals from 30 participating companies, we created a framework of competencies to be approached.

The project is funded by the Knowledge Foundation. The Knowledge Foundation funds research and competence development at Sweden’s university colleges and new universities with the purpose of strengthening Sweden’s competitiveness.
