Digital books - Public libraries role in the digital media landscape

As a consequence of the digitalisation of library services there are challenges for the libraries and the librarians in their professional capacity. Questions discussed and studied concerns the public libraries' position and role in digitalisation of society.

By lending digital books the public libraries become an actor in the tracking and collection of data for different purposes. The technological advances have meant an increased complexity and vulnerability with regard to the integrity of library users. The aim of this study is to increase the understanding for the public library's position and role concerning the availability if digital books.
