Sándor Darányi har arbetat vid Högskolan i Borås sedan 2003. Hans forskningsområden är: "advanced access to digital libraries, including automatic indexing, automatic classification, information retrieval and information visualization; digital preservation; narrative genomics for the study of intangible cultural heritage (e.g. mythologies and tales); quantum interaction; and evolving semantics".
Han har varit involverad i flera nationella och internationella forskningsprojekt samt med publikationer inom exempelvis "formalization of folk narratives for the extraction of test collections from unstructured big data".
Han sitter is styrelsen för Journal of Information Science
