Course evaluations
Course evaluations are done after each course at the university and are an important instrument for continuous course development. You then have the opportunity to provide feedback and opinions on the course you have completed. Course evaluations can be carried out in different ways. The most common is as a survey on Canvas, but paper surveys and oral discussions in the whole class also occur. A course evaluation always results in a course report. On the course's Canvas homepage you can find the latest course report for this course. When the course report for your course is ready, this will also be published on the course's Canvas homepage.
Program evaluations and program councils
Program evaluations are based on completed course evaluations. They are performed during the last semester of each educational program. The most common is as a survey on canvas, but paper surveys and oral discussions in the whole class also occur. The result is a program report, with suggestions for how the entire program can be developed. The program councils, which include student representatives, also provide input to the program evaluations and they use the program reports in their work to develop the programs. If you are interested in sitting on a program council, please contact the Student Union in Borås. Local education evaluations
In a local education evaluation (special review), the assessment group includes external subject-specific and qualified teachers together with representatives from the student union in Borås. The students in the program being evaluated also form their own interview group (5 – 6 participants) who can provide feedback on their education to the assessment group during an audit. If you want to be part of an assessment group, please contact the Student Union in Borås. If you want to be part of the student group that is interviewed in connection with the evaluation of a program, please contact the programme coordinator or the head of department.
If you as a student have questions about your education and the results and changes that the evaluations have generated, contact the program manager for more information.
An education evaluation results in an assessment group report containing recommendations for improvement measures related to the evaluation. Based on the recommendations, those responsible for the program draw up an action plan, which is then reviewed and decided by the relevant collegially appointed decision-making body (the Research and Education Board or the Artistic Research and Education Board).

National education evaluations
In a national education evaluation, the evaluation is carried out by the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ). Only a few areas of education at the basic and advanced levels are evaluated nationally. On these occasions, students usually form their own interview group. At the University of Borås, so far only the teacher education programmes and two of the specialist nursing programmes have been evaluated in this way. The bachelor of science in nursing has undergone a thematic evaluation.
Another important area for UKÄ to evaluate is the doctoral programmes. At the University of Borås, they have so far evaluated the doctoral programmes in textile technology and design. Starting in 2027, UKÄ will evaluate the doctoral programme Humans in Healthcare.
