New campus entrance
During 2026 and 2027, a service centre will be built in Sandgärdet, and the reception, Student Centre, and IT support will move from Balder to Sandgärdet.
To ensure a good indoor climate and increase the space in “Vardagsrummet”, the foyer area, a new entrance lobby will be built facing Akademiplatsen, with a terrace above it.
The project also includes refurbishment work in Oasen so that the area can also accommodate a café, student kitchenette, and student spaces. As part of these refurbishments, the Student Union will move to new premises on B4 in Balder, and Tech Borås will move to level 3 in Sandgärdet.
Overall, the following refurbishment work will be carried out:
- New entrance and refurbishment of Vardagsrummet
- The student kitchenette will be converted into a new service centre
- New café and student kitchenette
- Tech Borås will move to new premises on N3 (former group study rooms)
Construction traffic
During the refurbishment work, there will be construction traffic on Järnvägsgatan, which means that you will need to take extra care when in the area. The cycle and pedestrian path on Järnvägsgatan will be closed periodically from the railway crossing and past the university between weeks 38 and 47.
Schedule
- 14 September 2026: Demolition of the entrance begins. The entrance facing Akademiplatsen will be closed up to and including week 17. The temporary entrance is the entrance on Olovsholmsgatan 1.
- From week 38 of 2026 up to and including week 17 of 2027: Vardagsrummet will be closed. Construction of the reception desk begins. A passage to the University Library, which will remain open throughout, will be kept accessible. Noise and other disturbances may occur.
- Weeks 38–47: The cycle and pedestrian path on Järnvägsgatan will be closed periodically.
- Week 50: Construction of a new café begins, and the current café closes.
- January 2027: A new temporary café and student kitchenette opens in Oasen
- June 2027 (before Exit): The new Sandgärdet will be completed.
