How to apply

  1. Apply to the programme no later than 16 April 2026 at  www.universityadmissions.se
  2. The application portfolio and CV must be uploaded no later than 16 April 2026.
  3. We must receive your supporting documentation no later than 28 April 2026. Upload the documents to universityadmissions.se.

Admission Requirements

General admission requirements, plus: (i) artistic and creative ability to work, experiment, illustrate and realise textiles and other elements in an expressive way to clearly communicate an intended idea, (ii) technical skills in textile techniques, such as weaving, printing, sewing, embroidery, knitting, or other textile constructions, (iii) some critical-theoretical knowledge of the textile and design field. In addition, English 6 or English level 2 is required.

Application portfolio

The application portfolio, including a special application assignment designed to assess and demonstrate the eligibility requirements outlined above, is announced in January of the same year as admission for the autumn intake. In the Textile Design Programme, particular emphasis is placed on design research, the design process, experimentation for the artistic development of design ideas, as well as technical training and experimentation in studios and workshops. Therefore, it is important that the application portfolio demonstrates the applicant’s ability to develop ideas from visual research (material collection and processing of source material) to finished works with artistic quality, including composition and technical skills.

The application should be written in English.

The application assignment for autumn 2026 will be published on January 31. Below you will find the assignment for autumn 2025. Please note that it does not apply to the 2026 application, but is only provided as an example to show how the assignment is generally structured.

  • Fill out your name etc. and which specialisation you apply for with your portfolio.
  • Upload your application portfolio as a PDF, max 100 MB. You can also add a multimedia file (.mpg, .mpeg, .wmv, .avi, .qt, .mov, .mp4) max 100 MB.

CV

Your CV should include information about previous education, courses, work experience, internships and projects. Please use this form.

Assessment day

During the initial stage, the portfolio will be assessed in relation to proven artistic interpretative ability, technical ability in textile techniques and a degree of critical-theoretical knowledge of the field of textiles and design. In the next stage, a number of applicants will be invited to an assessment day. During the assessment day, the applicants’ artistic and technical abilities will be tested, and the applicants’ qualifications and other experience will be discussed during interviews. 

The assessment day will be conducted digitally on 13 May 2026. Selected applicants will be notified through their account at universityadmissions.se.

Admissions results

The result of the selection will be published on universityadmissions.se 27 May 2026. If you get admitted but can not attend the programme, you need to decline your offer on your pages at universityadmissions.se.
