External engagement and collaboration with society are a natural part of the University of Borås and permeate the university’s work.

External engagement and collaboration at the University of Borås consist of the relationships we have and all the activities we carry out together with entities in society in order to contribute actively to creating and using knowledge, strengthening each other's development, and contributing to the development of society. External engagement includes a wide range of different types of relationships and activities in research, education, utilisation, and innovation, which are conducted from the local to the international levels.

Science Park Borås is an open collaborative arena with several actors such as the University of Borås, the City of Borås, and the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE). Science Park Borås has a clear focus on sustainability within its three areas of activity: textiles, consumption, and societal development.
