For students, a particular case or issue involve contact with several authorities involved need to be taken. The e-Me concept, the meeting Ladok, student union and CSN's criteria for being a true student will automatically have the status as a student, in real time. This means that when other authorities or private parties require proof that the person in question really are a student, so this is already in evidence as part of the student profile.
The idea of the research project is to turn on the Internet. There is no user to locate information and services, but they must come to the user via a single channel, e-Me. To achieve this requires a framework for the development of small additions, also known as plug-ins, where different players can jack in their existing services and adapt them for e-Me.
The aim is to launch e-Me as a working product at the University of Borås. This release is based on knowledge and experience gathered from the e-Me pilot project carried out at the university. The development focus in this version is the system architecture, allowing students, universities and other parties to dynamically insert customized plug-ins, either in the form of a user tool plug-in (i.e. google calendar) or data provider (i.e. class scheduling systems).
Version 2 of the e-Me is based on experiences from the pilot project and includes the framework for service development and the initial services. The system architecture behind e-Me is an open source based architecture. The e-Me framework is built upon the J2EE standard together with a number of open source techniques that makes the development of the services easy.
