Expanding Textile Recycling Ecosystem Sustainability Measures through Sweden-India collaboration

ExTREMe

The purpose of the project is to explore and illuminate Indo-Swedish collaboration on creating science-based practices in textile recycling and circularity by setting up 5 mobilities by organizing workshops, field visits, technical/innovation sessions, guest lectures and seminars. This will contribute to developing ongoing textile research and educational collaboration by highlighting multidisciplinary research, creating dedicated trainers and educators, and by advising practice and policies.

Specifically, the project will strengthen the ongoing research and education in the area of textile recycling & circular economy by:

  • Highlighting multi-and inter-disciplinary research innovations with regard to digital technologies, green processes, and circular business models. In particular, galvanize R&D between Indo-Swedish scientists with multi-disciplinary expertise on textile recycling technology; circular logistics, supply chains, & business models; and decision science. Of particular importance is initiating collaboration between The Swedish School of Textiles at University of Borås and School of Interdisciplinary Research at IIT Delhi.
  • Knowledge-driven valorization of Europe-India cross-border recycling value chain, by creating a pool of trainers and educators who can create science-based approaches and understanding on textile recycling/circular economy, and devise educations tools (curriculums, courses and training modules) for the future workforce, i.e. students.
  • Advising practices and policies for the establishment and adoption of multi-stakeholder, cross-value-chain, inclusive and responsive working mechanisms to develop system solutions to mobilize public-private capacity development.
