Lab sessions in Civil Engineering

The use of alternative materials in concrete, such as circular aggregates and industrial by-products as binders, provides new opportunities for sustainable building technology. In the labs, experiments are carried out related to material characterisation, mixing, testing and analysis of concrete and its components.

The Civil Engineering research group has particular experience in testing fresh and hardened concrete, mechanical properties of building materials, and evaluation of environmental impact and durability. The focus is also on recycled and alternative materials such as sludge, excavated materials, bottom ash and slag gravel.
