Studying abroad on your own

If you choose to arrange your studies abroad independently instead of studying at one of the university’s partner institutions, this is referred to as studying as a freemover. If you study abroad as a freemover, you will do so without support from the International Office and are therefore responsible for the entire process yourself. Please also note that tuition fees may apply if you are not studying within the framework of an exchange agreement.

You apply for a leave from studies for the period during which you will study abroad and then apply to resume your studies with us upon your return. You can read more about leave from studies here.

When you return, you may also apply for credit transfer for the courses you have completed abroad. Please note that credit transfer is not assessed or approved in advance. You can read more about the credit transfer process here.
