Import mail from Google Takeout

If you have used Google Takeout to save your email, you will need to use software to open the email file.

You will find information about how to take a backup with Google Takeout at Export data from Google

Open Mbox file

Download Shoviv Mbox Viewer Tool (link is external) and install the program on your computer.
Open Shoviv Mbox Viewer
Click Add
Select the Mbox file you downloaded from Google takeout. In the takeout file, it is under Takeout > Mail
Click Open
Click Add MBOX Files
Click on All mail Include Spam and Trash on the left. You should now be able to see your emails.

Open Apple mail
Sign in with your private iCloud account (If you don't have an account, you need to create it first)
Click File and select Import Mailboxes
Select Files in Mbox format and click continue
Select the Mbox file you downloaded from Google Takeout
Select Finished
A folder called All mail included spam and trash is not created
You should now be able to see your emails.
