Installation of Microsoft Authenticator on a mobile phone

Go to the App Store (iPhone) / Google Play (Android) and search for Microsoft Authenticator, then install it. Please ensure that you select the correct app (see image).

Remember to activate notifications to the Microsoft Authenticator app.

• iPhone and Android: Go to Settings > Notifications > Authenticator > Allow Notifications

1. Start your browser on your mobile phone and go to outlook.hb.se
2. Log in with your student email and password
3. Click on Next -> Next
4. Click on the link Pair your account to the app by clicking this link. (see image)

6. Click on Open
7. The account has now been added to the app. (see image)

9. Go back to your browser again
10. Click on Next
11. Save the code and click Accept login notice. (see image)

13. Type the numbers and click Yes (see picture)

15. Click Next
16. Click Done

Installing Microsoft Authenticator on Your Mobile Phone

If you already have Microsoft Authenticator on your phone, you can proceed to the next step: Enabling multifactor authentication.

Go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and search for Microsoft Authenticator to install it. Please ensure that you select the correct app (as shown in the image)

Enabling Multifactor Authentication

1. Go to the address http://aka.ms/mfasetup on a computer.
2. Log in with your email address and password.
3. If your account is ready to configure Multifactor Authentication a window with "More information required" will show up. Click Next.

5. If prompted to allow notifications from the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, you need to allow that. Click Next on your computer.
   
6. Launch Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone.
7. Tap the plus sign (+) at the top right corner and select Scan a QR Code.
8. Scan the QR code on the computer screen with the mobile phone's camera.
   
9. When you have scanned the QR code an account will be added in the Microsoft Authenticator app.
10. Click Next on your computer.
    
11. A double digit code will be shown on your computer that you need to enter in the Microsoft Authenticator app. Enter the code and press Yes.
12. Click Next on your computer
    
13. Click on Finished on your computer
    
14. You are now done and you've successfully configured multifactor authentication.

Login with multifactor

When logging in to Outlook with an account that has multi-factor authentication, log in by entering your email address and password and clicking Sign in. Next, you need to enter the code with the heading Microsoft that is generated in the Google Authenticator app. If the option to enter a code does not appear, IT has not activated multi-factor authentication on your account yet.

Please note that when you are within the university's network, you do not need to log in with the code, but only an email address and password.

Automatic login on the web (outlook.hb.se) is saved for one month. If you log in via the Outlook client on the computer, it will be saved on the computer.

If you have switched to another mobile phone, reinstalled the Microsoft Authenticator app or are not receiving any codes, you need to contact the University’s IT department. They can assist you in resetting your account so that you can set up multifactor authentication again.
