I am an Associate Professor of Criminology and work as a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the Faculty of Police Work. I teach in the Police Education Programme and the Bachelor's Programme in Police Work with a focus on crime investigation as well as in the Faculty’s independent courses in criminology. I am also the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor's programme in Police Work together with Sofia Persson starting from the spring term of 2025 and I lead the research group Police Studies.

My doctoral thesis, Rethinking Injury Events. Exploration in Spatial Aspects and Situational Prevention Strategies (2018), focused on youth risk environments, particularly unintentional injuries in the home, violence in school environments, and suicides in public outdoor spaces. The thesis aimed to map problems, analyse causes, and identify preventive strategies related to the built environment, known as situational prevention. By combining criminological theory and sociological theory with architecture, new opportunities were created to understand youth risks and risk environments.

My research after receiving my doctorate has also dealt with the interaction between individuals and the environment with a focus on situations: lethal school violence, ongoing lethal violence, suicide issues, the relationships between crime, deviations, and environment—whether it's Internet environments or physical places, situational prevention, or method development within criminology.
